LAMAR BARNES
Managing Partner
Lamar Barnes is a Managing Partner for Impel Capital and is primarily responsible for sourcing, originating, and strategy of investments. He co-founded Impel Capital with Lonnie Chestnut, III in 2020.
Prior to forming Impel Capital, he was the Principal of BW Capital Advisors, a lower middle market merchant bank advising and investing in private debt and equity transactions from 2017 to 2020. Lamar began his career as an analyst for Branch Banking & Trust (“BB&T” and, now “Truist”) in 2006 and worked at the firm until 2017.
Lamar serves on the boards of Provizor Solutions and Sky Communications.
LONNIE B. CHESTNUT, III
Managing Partner
Lonnie Chestnut, III is a Managing Partner for Impel Capital and is primarily responsible for originating, risk management and strategy of investments. He co-founded Impel Capital with Lamar Barnes in 2020.
He began his career as a Commercial Lender for BB&T in 2005 and worked at the firm until 2012. Lonnie served in a variety of senior commercial lending roles prior to forming Impel Capital. He was the Regional President for First South Bank (later acquired by First Citizens Bank), a community bank which issued loans in the lower middle market from 2016 to 2019.
Lonnie serves on the boards of Provizor Solutions and Sky Communications.

Duane McKnight is currently Managing Member of NiteCap Advisors, a financial and strategic consulting firm serving tech-enabled start-ups and growth-oriented, underserved businesses operating primarily in the lower middle market.
He is also a founding member of MFP, the general partner of the Marathon Fund (“Marathon”), an early-stage equity fund focused on tech-enabled companies primarily led by founders representing disproportionally underrepresented communities.
Duane serves on the boards of Baldi Management Group and part of the investment committee for Impel Capital.
